Regardless of your business or industry, your data security is our concern. TechnoCycle offers a range of reliable options including on-site or remote Hard-Drive Data Erasure to NIST 800-88 standards, mechanical shredding of hard drives and tape media, and erasure or destruction of client data on computers, copiers, printers, networking IT, cell phones and PDA’s.

All equipment we receive is either reused or recycled into commodities (plastic, metal, circuit boards, etc.) and sent for processing by responsible recycling facilities.

Our knowledgeable recycling staff will work with you to understand your unique recycling needs and find ways to reduce, or eliminate, the recycling costs with the recycling of your end-of-life equipment. Often times the residual value of your equipment can offset the service costs of recycling your equipment including equipment removal, data erasure, and environmentally compliant disposal.

Due to the pace of technological advances, the business life cycle of a computer ends long before its true functional end of life. Computers manufactured just three years from now will have four times the processing and memory capacity for the same dollar spent today. In addition, the expense of maintaining computer equipment after its warranty has expired increases dramatically. To remain competitive, it’s a good rule of thumb is to set a budget to upgrade or replace one third of your computers each year so that nothing more than three years old remains deployed within in your organization.

You may be able to redeploy older computers in your organization, but maintaining multiple generations of disparate computer equipment can become complex and expensive. In the end, the true costs associated with a “trickle down” internal redeployment can justify the replacement with new machines.

Storage of computer equipment often just defers the final disposal decision of equipment and creates an unneeded liability. The labor costs and facility resources to store equipment and maintain an inventory can be a drain on your company’s IT resources. In addition, idle computer equipment in storage may still contain sensitive data and remain a liability to the company until it is sanitized. Creating a well defined end-of-life computer equipment policy and proactively disposing of end-of-life equipment will help eliminate the costs and liabilities of storing obsolete equipment.

Formatting is not a secure method of sanitizing data. Consider a large book with a table of contents. “Formatting” the book would only remove the table of contents, leaving all of the data in the chapters intact. A specialist that understands this can usually recover most, if not all, of the information that remains. To properly delete all data on a hard drive, a sanitization software needs to be used that will delete all of the data, page by page, and verify the erasure.

Since electronics may contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, there are often local, state, and federal guidelines that regulate the disposal of these electronics. Non-compliance to these standards creates a liability for potential litigation, severe fines, loss of revenue and loss of reputation for your organization.

TechnoCycle is an electronic recycler that upholds the highest standards of environmental responsibility. We ensure that your company’s information will be properly sanitized and that all your electronics will be disposed of in compliance with local, state, national, and international guidelines.

For each shipment we provide recycling documentation. This manifest includes a list of all equipment received detailing equipment class, manufacturer, model, serial number, and asset tag (if present). In addition, we track all manifested items received from our customers and record the final disposition and services performed on each item.

Data security and sanitization is one of the most important issues companies face today. TechnoCycle performs data sanitization with specialized disk wiping software to ensure proper erasure of your corporate data. Our standard data erasure, which can be performed on-site or off-site, meets Department of Defense NIST 800-88 data erasure standards and completely erases all data from the hard drives. In addition, TechnoCycle can also accommodate on-site and off-site hard drive destruction (drive shredding). Our knowledgeable recycling staff will work with you to understand your unique data security requirements and develop a solution that meets your needs.
